1463 | SOURCE CITATION: Title:Ancestral File (TM) Author:The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Publication Information:July 1996 (c), data as of 2 January 1996 Repository Name:Family History Library Address:35 N West Temple Street Salt Lake City, UT 84150 USA About 1844 Malcolm and his family moved to Missouri remaining there about three years, at which time they returned to Georgia. In 1849 approximately 500 people, mostly Whisenhunts and McRae's formed a wagon train and headed west. Malcolm settled in Pike County, Arkansas around the communities of Highland and Nathan, There they stayed until moving to Fannin County Texas in 1856. It is said that Malcolm walked into the General Store in Elwood with a gun over his shoulder and $20,000 in gold. He purchased 444 acres of land near Elwood where he lived the rest of his life. While living in Georgia, Arkansas and Texas, he served as justice of the peace and it attests to his fairness that no appeal was ever taken from his docket. The Fannin County community of McRae was named for this McRae family. 1467 | The 1860 Carroll County census shows Margaret as head of household. There were only 3 girls remaining at home in 1860. There was a William McRae, age 17, listed. This no doubt is William and Susan's McRae's son. The unanswered question is the relationship between Margaret and William J.? One source has them as siblings while another shows them as unrelated. I am of the opinion that they are related and it is a close kin case. March 1998; information from Janet Johns on McRae families show that Margaret and William J were brother and sister. | McRae, Margaret M. (I710)

1468 | The Battle of Bramham Moor in 1408: Henry Percy, earl of Northumberland, who had been lucky to escape disaster in 1403 when the revolt of his son Hotspur was crushed at Shrewsbury, raised a rebellion against Henry IV again in 1408. He marched south to Thirsk but, in the middle of a bitter winter, found little support. He was defeated and killed at Bramham Moor, near Wetherby, on 20 February 1408 by Sir Thomas Rokeby, sheriff of Yorkshire. An article by: JOHN CANNON. "Bramham Moor, battle of." 1478 | The middle initials of C. P. come from the marriage record where she is shown as N. C. P. Darr. Nancy died about age 25, probably in or near Visalia, Tulare County, California. I have been unable to locate her grave. She was married at an early age, probably 15. Family stories claim that her father was very much against the marriage, and threatened Wiley Denton Crouch. However, the indications I have found would have her father dead before she married. After Nancy's death Wiley's sister Mollie (Mary Crouch) helped raise the children. It has been said that Mollie's husband Ben Crabtree may have tried to molest Mollie Louise Crouch. | Darr, Nancy C. P. (I66)
