  Notes	[Hugh B.FTW] This man was a 'medical doctor by trade'. He was not a college graduate, but he was known as a doctor. He delivered babies, treated the sick, etc. I will always wonder about his training and education. Although Dad told us his grandfather did not attend college, one must wonder if he did not study under another doctor for some specified time. Such was the case for his brother-in-law, Malcomb McAllister. Malcomb studied under a Dr. Brown, who happened to be a brother of Henry Brown, who later married Sarah Penelope McAllister, a sister-in-law to Thomas. On 1860 census, he was listed as physician in Haralson County; on 1870 census, he was listed as farmer in Carroll County.
